T & C

The important formal stuff you need to know when you order from foodtalk.

Your privacy and security are important and that is why foodtalk provides a secure checkout zone.

Security and safe ordering

When you proceed through the checkout, you enter the secure area of the website. The information entered by you becomes encrypted (scrambled) and is securely delivered in two distinct parts to foodtalk's main computer and e-commerce site. We have chosen PayPal to manage debit and credit card payments. PayPal is well known and the great news is you do not have to join PayPal to pay. You can also choose to bypass PayPal and securely enter your card details.

We do what we can to provide a safe and secure environment in which to do Internet shopping. This includes encryption, compliance with security protocols, and a secure socket through which your details are safeguarded.

Dispatch

Once your order is received, you will receive a confirmation email. We aim to process your order within 3-4 working days.

We only sell books that we have in stock, unless the offer expressly states it is for a pre-order (new launch or awaiting delivery of fresh print run) product.

We accept orders from throughout the world and cannot give you an exact delivery time; it really depends on where you live! You are welcome to contact us if you think the order is slow to arrive. We will tell you the dispatch date and advise you of Australia Post's usual delivery timetable.

If your book hasn't arrived within a month (that is far too slow!) make sure you contact us within 2 months after the order date so we can ask Australia Post to investigate. Australia Post have a time limit on when they can initiate investigations and that is why we need to set a time limit as well.

Australian orders valued over $30 are sent parcel post or standard mail which includes a Tracking Number. If you need insurance please contact us for a quote. Insurance is not included for orders valued less than $150. If you want this, please make a note on your order. Foodtalk can not be responsible for mail that is lost by Australia Post. The item's Tracking Number, sent to you on request, is entered into the Australia Post website and shows when the item was posted by us and its transit.

International book orders are sent standard tracked airmail or, if you choose and when this is available, by International seamail (much slower, much cheaper). International pocket guide orders weighing less than 250 g are sent by economy letter post. Please check your country's rules for customs and import duty and delays. These are your responsibility and are not included on the price you pay to us. Please note that there could be extensive delays due to covid with international post.

We carefully package your order to protect it during delivery. Australia Post is usually very good and takes care with parcels but on the rare occasion, parcels have been damaged in transit. If this happens, take the unopened package to your local Australia Post outlet or if you opened it, take the parcel and full packaging with you. If you do not take all the packaging, unfortunately no claim can be made.

Please check your delivery address is correct. A new postal charge will be added if your order is returned to us due to an incorrect delivery address being provided by you. If we made an error writing out your address, we will pay the additional postage to get the book back to you.

Returns

If the goods are flawed, e.g. pages or cover inserted upside down (which would be a first), please contact foodtalk with the details so that we may resolve this quickly for you.

Change of mind? We do not accept returns or refund goods that have been open and used. Any goods returned to us must be packaged carefully (in original boxing if possible) and received by us in new condition to be eligible for refund of the book cost only. Postage price is deducted from the refund. Postage is not something we can recover.

Privacy

The information provided by you is for our use and is needed only so that your order can proceed. Your information will be used to send tracking notifications. It will not be passed on to any other parties without your authority. Your personal information is treated as confidential at all times. Only designated staff at the foodtalk office has access to your information and they will protect your details. Foodtalk is doing what it can to protect your privacy and security.
